Hard to Let Go - Heavy Aux & Robbi
Robbi was one of the first artists I brought to the Heavy Aux studio back in 2018. I had met Robbi back when I was throwing parties and events with/for Untitled & Co in 2016. We followed each other on Instagram and I had noticed she was singing a lot on her stories and she had a great voice. More importantly I remember she had this infectious energy. So I politely slid into her DM’s, explained what we were doing and invited her in to the studio.
I think this was the third song we wrote with her. illy really took a liking to her energy and the song. He was the one that suggested we put out a “Heavy Aux x Robbi” type of song, kind of like how DJ groups do. It’s a feel good summer type anthem about the push and pull of a relationship ending. It’s one of those songs that feels good when you hear it and becomes more relatable when you really listen.
My favorite lines are: “If i wanted baby I could runaway/ Something bout your lovin’ makes me want to stay.” It kind of feels like a classic line you’d hear from a song your parents might like from the 70’s or 80’s.
